Gear Action Sander/Polisher 6" (Discontinued)

The Alpha® gear-action sander/polishers offer the best of a single-action sander and a dual-action sander. These tools have a very high torque that is best suited for sanding and polishing applications. The low speed prevents the risk of burning on paint or the surface as well as prevents the surface from becoming “hairy” when used on FRP. The high torque makes the sanding action very aggressive so that it is best suited to strip rust, paint and other coating materials without creating distortion. In addition, strong torque also helps with the chemical applications when used with foam or a wool bonnet for the final polishing process of paint. The Alpha® gear-action sanders will not leave a swirl mark because of the orbital action typically caused by a rotary polisher that offers a lot of torque. The units have a dust port available to hook-up to a dust hose for a virtually dust-free central vacuum sanding application. Combine this with the Alpha® HEPA vacuum for great dust control and a cleaner environment!

Question : What kind of compressor do I need to use for the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher?

Answer : Since the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher may consume up to 2 CFM, Alpha® recommends using with a 2 hp or larger compressor that is commonly found in garages.

Question : Can I use the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher for wet sanding and polishing?

Answer : Yes. You can use the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher for wet sanding and polishing if you do not use the central vacuum function. Since there is no water feed available, you may have to use a sprayer to wet the surface.

Question : Does the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher come with a sanding product?

Answer : No. The Gear-Action Sander/Polisher comes with a standard backer pad with a standard 6-hole pattern.

Question : Can I use the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher at the jobsite?

Answer : Yes as long as you have required compressed air available, you can use Gear-Action Sander/Polisher at the jobsite.

Question : What kind of maintenance do I have to do on the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher?

Answer : Alpha® recommends adding daily oil to the designated oil port at the end of the job to lubricate the motor.

Question : Does Alpha® offer a palm sander with other orbit diameters?

Answer : No. Currently the Gear-Action Sander/Polisher with a 5mm orbit diameter is the only one offered at this time.
