Alpha® is proud to introduce a new system for CNC sink rim polishing designed for the most popular application of countertop fabrication using CNC stone centers (Routers). Unlike exterior edges, most sink rims have either a T or A profile regardless of the countertop’s exterior edge profile. Since the bit has to polish not only the oval shape, but also rectangular shapes with rounded corners, the diameter of this bit is the industry standard of 20mm (3/4”). Although, the Alpha® CNC Sink Rim Polishing System is similar to other CNC systems, it is easier to install without having to consider the actual dimension of each bit, due to its unique pre-machined dimensions for each step of the process. There are 7 steps involved using three different technologies of diamond tooling: Vacuum Brazed for Pos. 1, Electroplated for Pos. 2 and 3, and Resin Bond for Pos. 4, 5, 6 and 7.
The simple process can be started by cutting out a sink hole using a CNC stone center with a finger bit, saw blade, water jet or combination of these tooling options. Regardless of the choice of the cutting tool, this process is considered Pos. 0 which is the initial step for the application process. After the sink is cut out, Pos. 1 will calibrate the edge to establish a foundation for the edge profile, then the remaining Pos. will follow to complete the polishing process.
This operator-friendly implementation provides the highest-quality finish without the horizontal surface line. Also, it can be used for exterior edges if the specification is for a T or A profile. This system offers a particular advantage for polishing internal corners of the L-Shape countertops.
