Answer : Type 1 dry cutting blades such as the Alpha® Katana, Libero, Laminam®, Plus, Eclipse, Sonic and Ultracuts.
Question : What is the largest diameter blade that the Ecoguard C will accept?
Answer : 5” (125mm)
Question : What is the maximum depth that I can cut using a 5” Diameter blade on the Ecoguard C?
Answer : The maximum cutting depth you will receive when using a new 5” diamond blade will be 1-1/4” (30mm).
Question : When I purchase the Ecoguard, which connector assembly is attached onto the guard?
Answer : The default connector assembly attached to the guard is for Makita®, Milwaukee® and Bosch® grinders.
Question : Why are spacers included with the Ecoguard C?
Answer : Alpha® includes a total of four spacers all with different thicknesses (5mm, 7mm, 8.6mm and 9.4mm) for the purpose of aligning the blade to the cut mark on the foot base. Once the blade is in alignment with the cut mark on the foot base, the operator can follow the cut line on the stone to make straight cuts.
Question : What is the purpose of the Foot Plate which is include in the box of the Ecoguard C?
Answer : The Foot Plate provides stability to the Ecoguard when cutting (always keeping the blade at a 90 degree angle). The Ecoguard can be used with or without the Foot Plate attached; however, it’s highly recommended to use the Ecoguard with the Foot Plate attached to make the cutting application easier for the operator.
Question : My vacuum hose keeps detaching from the Rubber Hose Connector, how can I secure the vacuum hose so it will not detach?
Answer : The Ecoguard C has one stainless steel hose band included inside the product box. Place this stainless steel hose band on the rubber hose connector, insert the vacuum hose inside the rubber hose connector and tighten the stainless steel hose band to secure the vacuum hose.
Question : What is the purpose of the D115 and D125 marked on the side of the Ecoguard C?
Answer : These are cutting depth guides. Use the D115 scale for 4.5” (115mm) diameter blades and D125 for 5” (125mm) diameter blades. Please note that the depth is indicated in millimeters.
Question : How can I quickly identify the correct collar to connect my Ecoguard onto my grinder?
Answer : We have engraved the machine manufacturer’s name, onto all of the collars, to make it easy to identify the correct collar for attachment.
Question : What gives the Ecoguard C its rugged construction for the continuous daily, heavy-duty applications it performs?
Answer : The Alpha® Ecoguard C is made with a polycarbonate material which has excellent physical and toughness properties for the everyday use. This material is also transparent so you can see the actual cut line.
Question : What is the outside diameter of the hose opening of the Ecoguard C dust collector?
Answer : Outside diameter is 1-5/16” (34mm)
Question : What is the inside diameter of the Rubber Hose Connector which is supplied with the Ecoguard C?
Answer : Inside diameter of the rubber connector hose is 1-1/4” (31mm)
Question : What is the purpose of the Dust Bag which is included in the box of the Ecoguard C?
Answer : The Ecoguard C is a hybrid design and the dust is forced through this hybrid design into the dust bag without the use of a vacuum. We only recommend using the Dust Bag for making minimum cuts, when making multiple cuts the Ecoguard performs best when attached to the Alpha® HEPA Vacuum.
Question : I just purchased an Ecoguard C and it will not fit securely onto my angle grinder, what should I do?
Answer : Check the owner’s manual of the Ecoguard C to verify that you have the correct connector assembly for the selected grinder attached to the Ecoguard. If the Ecoguard C still does not fit securely, call Alpha Professional Tools® for technical support: 800-648-7229.
Question : When attaching the Ecoguard C onto my grinder, does the directional arrow on the Ecoguard C need to match the directional arrow on the grinder?
Answer : Yes, the directional arrow on the Ecoguard should match the directional arrow of the grinder. Especially when you are using the supplied dust bag instead of a vacuum. Using a vacuum, the vacuum’s suction directs the dust through the Ecoguard. When using the dust bag, the blades rotation is what forces the dust through the Ecoguard for the dust collection.
Question : Does Alpha® sell a connector hose to fit onto the Ecoguard C?
Answer : Yes, The Flexible Connector Hose is available for purchase (Part No. 500026). The hose is 18” in length with a 1-1/4” Tapered Fitting and 2-1/4” Female Fitting. When using this hose with the Ecoguard C you need to use the Rubber Hose Connector and Stainless Steel Hose Band which is include in the box of the Ecoguard C.
