Question : What is the different between Sanding Screens from Norton or 3M with Reznet Sanding Screens?
Answer : Old fashioned sanding screens have abrasives on both sides of screen therefore you need to clamp the edge on the sanding block to secure it in place.
Question : Why are Sanding Screens from Norton and 3M black in color but Reznet is a brown color?
Answer : Norton and 3M use silicon carbide abrasive grain as a general purpose. Alpha® uses aluminum oxide for more specific applications in order to get better performance. Silicon carbide covers a wider range of materials that include glass, stone and concrete. However, aluminum oxide works better on wood, metal, paint and coating removal.
Question : Core customer base of Alpha® is stone and tile industries so are we going to bring in Reznet Screens with silicon carbide in the future?
Answer : We are considering adding silicon carbide version of Reznet in a future for honing of marble and limestone as well as decorative concrete on flat surface.
Question : I have seen dry wall contractors were using sanding screen to smooth out spackles on the seam. Do we have a sanding block with an extended pole?
Answer : No. we don’t have such block yet at this time. However, we are currently preparing for a 9” diameter disc for dry wall sanders from Porter-Cable, Festool and Flex.
Question : FIANA customers carry 16” and 17” sand screen disc for the floor application. Will we have Reznet for floor applications to use on floor polishers?
Answer : We are currently studying the application with floor machines since this is not priority target due there are many competitive products available on the market. FIANA customers use a belt floor sander to remove a varnish from the wooden floor. However, they need to use rotary motion to remove the seam to complete the preparation for varnishing applications. Currently, the contractors are using standard sand screen discs with silicon carbide since they work on wood and terrazzo type floors.
Question : Who is the competitor of Reznet?
Answer : Mirka is the only competitor who carries sanding screen products with hook & loop. Their product is called Abranet and they are the pioneer of this kind of abrasive. They do not indicate the kind of abrasive grain they use on Abranet since they mix aluminum oxide and silicon carbide then apply on their screen.
Question : Mirka has two kinds of sanding screens called Abranet and Autonet. What is the difference between them?
Answer : We understand that Autonet is less expensive by 20 to 30 percent compared with Abranet due to the quality of products. Rumor is that Abranet is the first quality production and less than first quality will become Autonet with different color since automotive industries are cheaper compared with other industries.
Question : Do we offer a dust hose between sanding block and vacuum cleaner?
Answer : We don’t have them yet but we are working on the universal dust hose that can connect sanding blocks and different hose diameters of vacuum cleaners. There are many kinds available from 3M, Mirka and other companies so it is not so difficult to find them on the market.
Question : What is the P grit?
Answer : There are three industrial standards available for grit indication. CAMI (Coated Abrasive Manufactures Institute - USA), FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives – Europe) and JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard – Japan). P grit is FEPA system. Alpha® Sandpaper Disc uses the CAMI system so that there are slight difference in grit size between Reznet and our Sandpaper Discs.
Question : Can we get Reznet in belt form?
Answer : No we cannot. Sanding screens are not strong enough to make in belt format due to its construction.
