Answer : The Flexible Backer Pads are available in 2", 3", 4" and 5".
Question : What tools are the Flexible Backer Pads designed to be used on?
Answer : Alpha® Flexible Backer Pads are designed to be used on hand-held polishing tools such as the Alpha® AIR-680 and VSP-320.
Question : What is the maximum RPM at which I can use these Flexible Backer Pads?
Answer : Alpha® Backer Pads should not exceed 4,000 RPM.
Question : What thread sizes are available?
Answer : The most common thread size available today is 5/8”-11; however, M16 and M14 are also available.
Question : Can I use the Alpha® Flexible Backer Pad on my high-speed angle grinder?
Answer : Yes, only if the angle grinder is a variable speed model and the RPM can be slowed down to fewer than 4,000 RPM. The angle grinder also needs to have an external water-feed water supply and spindle threads that match the threads of the Flexible Backer Pad.
Question : How are polishing abrasives secured onto the Alpha® Flexible Backer Pad?
Answer : The Flexible Backer Pads have a hook and loop backed material which holds the polishing abrasive onto the Backer Pad.
Question : If I am polishing a tight radius, which size Flexible Backer Pad should I use?
Answer : If you are polishing a tight radius, Alpha® recommends using the Alpha® Ceramica or Ceramica EX polishing discs together with an undersized Flexible Backer Pad. Using an undersized backer pad will allow the polishing disc to conform to the radius allowing the polishing disc to polish the material easily and quickly.
Question : The Flexible Backer Pads are WET use only, can I use them for my dry polishing applications?
Answer : No. The Alpha® Flexible Backer Pads are to be used for wet polishing applications only.
