Question : Does Alpha® offer any flexible discs to complete profiling on a round over edge?
Answer : Alpha® recommends a 5” VFlex Flexible Sanding Disc (VDF50xx series) to shape up the profile of round over edges or to clean up the internal oval rim of a vanity. Select from 35 grit, 50 grit or 80 grit to complete this task.
Question : I have a large enough compressor but PSC-600 bogs down from time-to-time. What can I do to improve the operation?
Answer : Since you may have multiple pieces of equipment connected to the compressed airline, you may be short of air flow available from your compressor.
Question : What is different between wet grinders on the market and the Alpha® PSC-600?
Answer : Most of the wet grinders have been built with alteration of a common pneumatic high-speed angle grinder designed for dry metal applications with an exterior water feed. Even though you may find one with center water feed system, water would spray towards the outside of the blade only and water wouldn’t ever cool the other side of the blade. The PSC-600 is designed from scratch as an industrial wet cutting tool for the stone industries. With this said, the Alpha® wet cutter is built with more than 30 years of experience producing wet polishers and the voices from stone fabricators.
Question : Can I use PSC-600 for grinding application?
Answer : Yes. The PSC-600 offers the flexibility to be used as wet stone cutter or wet stone grinder since it has a very unique center water feed system. To use as a grinder, replace the Inner Flange designed for cutting with the one designed for grinding which will send all the water to the grinding edge, instead of dividing it onto the two sides of the grinding cup wheel. Note: Due to the spindle thread size, any grinding wheel with a pre-threaded 5/8”-11 arbor will not fit on PSC-600; so you need to use one with a 7/8” straight arbor for sanding and grinding.
Question : What is the warranty on the PSC-600?
Answer : One year warranty.
Question : How can I get the parts list and schematic for the PSC-600?
Answer : Visit our website at www.alpha-tools.com or call at 800-648-7229.
Question : Can I use PSC-600 as a dry cutter?
Answer : Yes. However, make sure to be compliant with Table 1 of OSHA silica rule regarding dangerous silica dust exposure.
Question : Does Alpha® offer a electric high-speed angle grinder with center water feed system?
Answer : No. However, Alpha® offers a WSPKIT to convert most popular small and large high speed grinders into a wet tool for cutting, grinding and profiling applications.
Question : How much rust inhibitor oil do I need to put in the oil port?
Answer : Alpha® suggests to put only a few drops of rust inhibitor oil in the oil port at the end of the shift then slowly turn on the air to lubricate the rotor and cylinder. If you blow compressed air in full, rust inhibitor oil will come out from the exhaust which would defeat the purpose.
Question : Which product does Alpha® recommend for sanding and grinding?
Answer : Alpha® recommends using a 5” Vexcel Rigid Disc 25 grit (VDR5025) for heavy grinding applications and a 35 grit (VDR5035) for general shaping applications. We also recommend a 5” Spike Disc 35 grit (VCS5035) for resin net removal from the back sides of stones. In both cases, you can enjoy fast material removal with much less noise and vibration as compared with sintered bond grinding wheels.
